Despite the fact that Broward County has upheld a strict dress code, students have been able to express themselves while following the rules. Whether they show themselves through new patches or ripped jeans, the Cowboys of Cooper City High truly have a unique style. When walking through the hallways each teen’s individual personality is able to shine through their style.

Although most of it’s life is spent under your desk, backpacks are an item that can aid in self expression. The up and coming brands are Hershel and Kanken backpacks which allows for a practical yet attractive bag. A person’s backpack goes beyond the name brand however. More students this year have been accessorizing with patches, pins, and keychains that showcase their hobbies, music, humor and more. In addition, these accessories have also been seen on jackets, jeans, and other clothing items.

An outfit is not complete without a neat pair of footwear. Shoes are one of the most significant pieces to a wardrobe.Though socks and sandals are controversial, the footwear got an upgrade when Birkenstocks started flopping down the halls of Cooper City High, changing school fashion one step at a time. TopSiders along with Polo sneakers are becoming more popular with the students as we kick off the new school year. Youngsters are wearing sneaker brands such as Adidas, Nikes, and Converses on their feet, allowing for a two way street: function and style!

Living in Florida, the sun can sometimes feel overpowering. Though the dress code isn’t exactly heat friendly, CCHS students are staying cool by sporting lightweight kimonos on top of their Floridian friendly crop tops. The variety of the clothing item attracts many young women to this style. For boys, Polos are covering the campus. Polos come in many different styles and colors; the shirt itself is also quite comfortable. Button-downs, on the other hand. are unisex. The shirt can be worn casually or dressed up as well as have more personalized details, such as the pocket or collarless necks. No matter how a person wears a top, heads will turn as they walk by.

As summer is coming to an end and we are transitioning into fall, jeans are coming back in business. Everyone owns at least a pair of jeans in their closet since it is a basic staple but certain cuts come and go. The boyfriend jeans and the ripped jeans are strolling the hallways. Comfortable and stylish, both guys and girls are rocking this trend and making their jeans their own. Since the 90’s era is coming back in cycle, many teenagers embrace their inner grunge with plaid shirts or doc martens. Though they are affiliated with the 90’s, the possible outfits with boyfriend and ripped jeans are limitless and versatile with every style.

Many kids cut off their locks for the summer to beat the heat. This style is transitioning into the school life as more teens are rocking shorter haircuts. Though the undercut is popular with both genders, it is more common with the guys. Girls are rocking all sorts of short hair lengths, ranging from the unisex undercut to the shoulder length bob. Short hair requires minimal effort and time to maintain it, which we all need in the morning for the days we want to sleep in for an extra ten minutes. Another fashion trend that’s been going around is lighter hair. More students have been rocking blonder tips and highlights; some have even took it to the level of bleaching their whole head. The way a person styles their hair is personal and tells much about their own personality.

Fashion is not only about trends, but it how people express themselves. It can promote confidence and individuality. The students of Cooper City High each tell their own story everyday, whether they know it or not. So when you wake up in the morning to get ready for school, you can dress up or down, wear a skirt or your own Cooper City class shirt, but when deciding an outfit, remember the story you want to show.
