From March 13th through 17th, Cooper City High students will be dressing up for Spring Spirit Week, leading up to the Sadie Hawkins Dance that Saturday night.  This will be the second time in recent Cooper City history that a spirit week in March has taken place.

“I’m excited about spring spirit week,” freshman Paulina Manta said.  “It’s a lot of fun to see everyone participate in showing school spirit.”

SGA has been working to promote the event through social media and banners around the school so that students can begin to prepare.  Jessica Less, the chair of the Spring Spirit week project and the class of 2018 President, has been working on ideas for about two months in order to bring out excitement from the student body that may be lacking between Homecoming and Prom.

“I created Spring Spirit week because it mimics the happiness and livelihood that takes place during HOCO week,” she  said.  “It encourages school spirit and gives the students something to look forward to in the second semester.”

While the “Through the Decades” homecoming week was centered around one theme (decades), the upcoming spring spirit week will have a new theme every day.  On Monday, students will dress in sportswear to start the week.  Next is the traditional Twin Tuesday, where students have the opportunity to match with their friends. This is followed by Wacky Wednesday, a day in which students can get creative and wear whatever they define as “wacky.” The next day, students can dress like they’re from the past or the future for Time Travel Thursday. Finally, students will wear green on Friday to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day.

“I’m most excited for Wacky Wednesday because I’m looking forward to dressing up however I want and wearing the craziest clothes I have,”  Class of 2017 Historian Brogan Ness said.  “I’m also excited to see everyone else dress as crazy as they can; it’s a great way to promote school spirit.”
