With high hopes of winning districts and reaching regionals this year, the Cooper City High School boys Water Polo team competed in a three game tournament on Saturday, February 11th. Here, they faced off against non-district teams at Miami Country Day High School.

In the first game, the Cowboys played Coral Gables. Still adapting to the new team, the Cowboys managed to score the first couple goals; but Coral Gables answered back quickly. Towards the end of the match, both teams struggled to come up with a goal to win the game. The momentum shifted to the Cowboys side when Collin Pappas finally put in the game winner to make it 9-8 and head into the second game with a win.

“Winning the game made me proud of my team and my plan for the future is to not let my injury hold me back as well as train the new players.” said Collin Pappas.

The Cowboys hoped to come up big in the second game, but were caught off guard early on and went down by 6to Alonso Mourning High School. Players Collin Pappas, Isaiah Deal, and Luke Tanner managed to get on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win, with a final score of 19-7.

In the last game of the tournament, Cowboys played Miami Country Day, hoping to finish off with a win and forget about the last game. Both teams came out shooting strong and scoring many goals each. Miami fought harder and began to shut down the Cowboys attack and continue to launch shots. The game ended 14-5, with a Miami victory. The Cowboys finished off the tournament 1-2.
