Varsity Tennis: Cowboys Defeat Northeast High

On Thursday, February 23rd, the CCHS girls and boys’ tennis teams defeated Northeast High School in their 4th match of the season.

The boys came out strong against the Hurricanes, with all of their players easily beating their opponents. No. 1 singles player Nate Promkul and No. 2 singles player Vincent Ong continued to lead the team, and newcomers Andy Morales and Jose Enriquez also had impressive matches. With a final score of 5-0, the boys improved their overall season record to 4-0.

The girls finished with a final score of 4-1, with wins from No 1. singles player Amanda Yellen, No 2. singles player Gabriela Mayer, No 4. singles player Rachel Sharpe and No. 5 singles player Adi Braha. No. 3 singles player Haley Fiers fought hard in a close battle but fell short in the end with a final score of 8-6.

Next Tuesday, February 28th, the girls and boys’ tennis teams will face off against former district champions, Cypress Bay High School in their toughest match of the season yet.
