The Cooper City High school Cowboys Flag football team faced the West Broward Bobcats on Monday. A once team rival. The Cowboys dominated the whole game, ending it early with a mercy rule. The score was 31-0. This made them 6-0 in the district remaining undefeated. On Wednesday the Cowboys took on South Broward at 4:30 and yet again won, remaining undefeated. Now 7-0 with a 21-14 victory.

Against the Bobcats the Cowboys had to win not only to remain undefeated but to prove they are still a force to be reckoned with, last year it was the Cowboys senior night and the Bobcats thought they would have had an easy win, as that is what happened in the past but not last year. It was good game for the Cowboys because they were able to approve upon some mistakes made in earlier games such as giving the the quarterback, Caitlin Dunn time to throw the ball before her flags were pulled. Once there was an adjustment made and the Cowboys figured out how to screen the very fast double rush, and Caitlin could then roll out easily, the Cowboys were unstoppable. The Cowboys were even able to run the ball very well if they were not throwing, freshman, Kimberly Slinkosky had two running touchdowns in this game, upon many more she already scored this season. Defensively the Lady Cowboys remained strong throughout, knowing their zones and did their job. It was a much more offensive game on the Cowboys part, and defensive for the bobcats.Games like these are important because a win is always wanted but learning experiences and being able to make an adjustment during the game is an important skill to develop as a team.

The Bulldogs were a team the Cowboys knew were coming and had to prepare for, everyone needed to be on their A game. Luckily the Cowboys stepped up to the challenge and proved themselves to have improved continuously. After long practice each day this was a nice reward for the girls and coaching staff. The bulldogs are ranked 10 in the state, this was a major victory. Even boosting the confidence of many. At first the Cowboys came off strong and stopped South Broward right away on defense, allowing the Cowboys to get the ball and start. The cowboys quickly put together a nice throw play, creating a touchdown. Sarah Megna, the center, had a nice catch for the extra point. Just as the Bulldogs thought they could make something happen, the Cowboy defense did their job and ended up stopping them once again. It was a close back and forth for the rest of the quarter but then the Bulldog managed to get one on the Cowboys. Luckily for the Cowboys, they missed the extra point, putting the Cowboys ahead by one at half with a score of 7-6. Fierce and ready to play, the Cowboys came back strong. Juliet Polanco had a nice long 60 yard touchdown after juking the girl out causing her to miss the yellow flags. This brought momentum, making the Bulldogs work harder, the even scored quick off the bat in the 3rd quarter and made the extra point for 2 making it 14-14. Going into the 4th quarter it was really close and the Cowboys got the ball and Kimper Slinkosky scored on a trick play. South Broward ended up getting the ball back but the Cowboys stopped them on 4th down with 3 rushers to sack the quarterback and then we ran out the clock at the end to stay undefeated with a 21-14 win.

There are high hopes for this team flag football this season and so far much has been achieved. Each game they strive to do better in different ways and have seemingly done so. The future is bright and the girls are finally peeking at the perfect time in their season, but not to get ahead of themselves, the hard work is still having to be put in, in order to maintain this standing.
