Cooper City High School held its annual Variety Show on January 30 and 31 in the auditorium, serving as a fundraiser for the senior class.

Danielle Brookes, Maddison Braddy, Nick Zottoli, Wasim Hayatt, and Taylor Axelrod hosted this show and ticket sales raised a total of $3,500 for the senior class.

The show opened with senior Deja Monteagudo singing alongside her band, performing two songs that brought the crowd to their feet.

“Deja was awesome,” sophomore Michael Gelman said. “I love her music and she’s so talented.”

The hosts had prepared a number of comedic skits that were preformed before every act. Marti Wein dressed up as the world famous Honey Boo Boo, and parodied Miley Cyrus’ famous Wrecking Ball music video with a blow-up metal ball.

Perhaps the most standout performance of the night was Olivia Pascale-Wong’s cover of “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.

“It was such a tear jerking performance that I couldn’t help but get emotional,” CCHS graduate Kaitlyn Valiente said.

Other highlights of the evening included Patrick O’ Dea performing an entire drum solo upside down and Skylar Hinds’ hip-hop dance routine. Because a majority of the talent were seniors, the ending to the 2014 Variety Show was emotional for many.

“I’ve dreamed about hosting the Variety Show since my freshman year,” Host Maddison Braddy said. “It was everything I thought it would be and more.”
