While March is a month chalk full of many important events, it only means one thing to sports fans: March Madness. It’s the time of year where we go nuts over the large NCAA tournament that is being played out. However, while it’s a time full of excitement it is also the time of year where millions of dollars are wagered on basketball games. As your money dwindles you’re your faith crumbles away the allure of March Madness becomes much less fun. Yet each spring we continue to participate (frustrating isn’t it?). But what if didn’t have to be so aggravating? What if there was a way to beat the system? Fans nationwide have invented a number of different superstitious strategies, but only a select few make my list for the best tournament picking strategies. So when all else fails and an impossible matchup arises here are some ways to break the tie.
HAT PICK
What else says answers to March Madness matchups than picking out of a hat? It’s Easy. Just write down the two teams on equal sized paper, and put them in a hat. Then, pick one out at random, and boom you have a winner. Simple as that.
COIN FLIP
This one is an old favorite. Find a coin of any type (preferably a quarter due to its superior ability to predict college basketball outcomes as opposed to less valuable coins). Next assign each side to represent one team. Then you flip it and whichever side is facing up is the projected winner. There is a reason why games too even to call are called “coin flip games”. If it is good enough for the pros, it’s good enough for me.
HOUSEHOLD PETS
Household pets, especially dogs, have been bestowed with an uncanny ability of to predict the outcome to any college basketball game in March with deadly accuracy. How you may ask? Easy. Just place two identical treats side by side on the floor and assign a team to be represented by each treat. Then, release the pet and whichever treat he picks is your winner. At the risk of making your pet extremely unhealthy from the over consumption of treats, try to limit the portion size of each treat.
With just these three simple yet very effective techniques, a perfect bracket is guaranteed this year. Good luck to everyone creating one!
