Immaturity

Some people can look mature but have the mind of a 12 year old. Similarly, some people can look like a 12 year old but have the mind of a wise elder. Maturity does not come with age – rather, it comes with experience. High school is just filled with teenagers, obviously; however, most of those teenagers aren’t cultured. Usually, the ones who think they’re respectful are actually the ones most immature. This is a pet peeve for many here at CCHS.
High schoolers are composed of ages 14-18. There are 4 years to grow and prosper from a cocoon to a butterfly. High school, for the most part, is geared towards just that: letting students find themselves and figure out who they really are. It’s understandable that the freshmen and sophomores may need a little more growing up to do compared to the upperclassmen. However, just because someone is an underclassman doesn’t mean they have the right to scream and run through the hallways. Acting younger than you are is probably the most unattractive attribute about a person, and shouting curse words throughout the staircases definitely doesn’t make those who choose to do so ‘cool’ or ‘funny’.
There are many CCHS students who also love to act out in class. Being rude or inappropriate during class towards one’s teacher definitely isn’t impressive. Actually, if there is someone who talks back and treats their teacher as if they’re a peer, it’s anything but impressive. Immaturity is not a characteristic one should carry, ever. Once these children attend college or university, they will be unpleasantly surprised that the world doesn’t like their snide remarks or sarcastic comments.
Don’t be fooled by appearance. Like said above, someone can look like an adult but actually act like a child. Be respectful and responsible. Most people who think they act appropriately don’t possess these two qualities. The most important thing to do is think before speaking. Most of the time, adults treat the mature students better than the immature children.
