With Christmas right about the corner one can`t help but get into the holiday spirit. Now more than ever, the media has enabled us to get in touch with our enthusiastic festive side. With the 25th quickly approaching it`s hard not to feel giddy and cheerful. Still, nothing tops off the holiday season like watching some classic Christmas movies. Here are my favorites.
9 The Polar Express
What’s it about: On the night of Christmas Eve, a young boy boards a train called the “Polar Express” in in the hopes of going to the North Pole and meet the legendary Santa Clause. For a boy who has no faith in “Santa Clause” he finds himself embarking on a eye opening experience that allows him to realize that believing is all we have.
8. Charlie Brown Christmas
What’s it about: A young boy by the name of Charlie Brown can`t help but question the idea of materialistic items representing Christmas. He is is urged by his friend Lucy to become director of the school Christmas pageant and when this proves to be a difficult task, he understands the true meaning of Christmas and puts on a performance that’s worth watching.
7. Rudolph The Red- Nosed Reindeer
What’s it about: Rudolph is a young reindeer who wants nothing more to fit in and be useful. Nevertheless, his vibrant red nose has made him an outcast among the other reindeer. He teams up with an elf by the name of Hermey and Yukon Cornelius and together the three run into the dreaded Abdominal Snowmman, a feared creature harboring an island of broken toys. Rudolph insists on getting help for these toys by going to Santa He becomes a hero to all.
6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
What’s it about: The Grinch is a bitter character who lives on the outside of Whoville who repels the idea of Christmas. When the holiday season approaches the Grinch plots to ruin Christmas for all the Whos of the land. However a change of events alters his opinion of the holiday.
5. The Nightmare before Christmas
What’s it about: Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the yearly Halloween activities and goes on an adventure to find something new. When he is exploring in a forest he an outline of a Christmas tree and decides to enter it. He takes a journey into Christmas Town and is amazed by the holiday. When he returns to Halloween Town he brings back the Christmas ideals and decides to recreate it by bringing gifts to the children. However complications arise when not everything follows his plan.
4. Elf
What’s it about: Buddy was an orphan that was mistakenly sent to the North Pole and raised by elves. When he becomes an adult he is allowed to go to New York City and find his biological father. His father is too caught up in himself and his job to realize what is going on. Eventually, Buddy is left to experience New York by himself. It’s a great holiday film full of many laughs and lots of heart.
3. Home Alone
What’s it about: In the McCallister family, the youngest son Kevin is constantly overlooked. When his family takes their Paris Christmas vacation, they accidentally leave him at home. At first this is an ideal situation for Kevin, but when two burglars come into the situation he is forced to come up with elaborate plans to keep them from intruding into his house.
2. The Santa Clause Trilogy
What’s it about: A divorced family is faced with the troubling act of breaking the news to their 6 year old son that Santa is not real. On the night of Christmas Eve he receives an unexpected visitor on his roof .When Santa falls, Scott Calvin puts on the suit and is forced to journey across the world delivering presents to the children. When he returns to the North Pole he is told by the elves that he has been chosen to become the new Santa Clause.

What’s it about: Ebenezer Scrooge is taken on a journey on the night of Christmas Eve to re experience his miserable life. Three spirits visit him to show him the past, present, and future of his life.. Scrooge is left to decide if he will change and avoid the consequences waiting for him by discovering the meaning of Christmas.
