After beating Nova 4-1, the Lady Cowboys had their eyes set on Everglades High School. The game took place at Cooper City High on November 20, and was a district game. The Cowboys dominated the whole game, winning with a score of 5-0. The Cowboys have yet to be scored on at home in a district game.

In the first quarter, the Cowboys dominated the Gators in every way. On offense, they pounded shots from everywhere and tried scoring early on. The Cowboys defense was locked down and didn’t let any balls or players go through them. Sophomore, Sara Walker opened the game for the Cowboys, making the game 1-0 off a corner kick. The Gators lost it from there and the Cowboys continued to take every open shot, trying to score as many goals as they could. Nobody scored for the rest of the quarter, with the Gators struggling to find any game plan to use against the Cowboys.

The second quarter went the Cowboys’ way as well. Senior Kylee Griffin scored a goal to make the game 2-0, and the Gators missed a one-on-one attempt with the goalie to score, shooting the ball over the goal. The Cowboys now began to posses the ball better and make smarter passes to break apart the Gators. The half ended 2-0 for the Cowboys.

“The way we have been playing is great and we have to go into every game the same way,” Griffin said. “I think we should continue to pressure every team at the start of the game and score as much as possible.”

The Cowboys took over the game completely in the second half. Abbi Gilchrist scored to make the game 3-0 and secure a solid lead for the Cowboys. The Gators were struggling to move the ball past half field because of the high pressure from the Cowboys. The Cowboys were awarded a freekick which nearly curved in, but hit the post. Shortly after, Vikki Ramos placed a perfectly driven shot into the bottom corner to make the game 4-0. Ramos continued shooting and eventually scored the final goal of the game making it 5-0 for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are 2-0 in districts and keep a clean sheet at home. Their next game is November 27 against Hollywood Hills at home.

Final score: Cooper City 5, Everglades 0
