Going to prom has always been a fantasy for high school girls. We all want to look and feel like princesses, walking down the staircase in a beautiful dress, having a date, wearing a corsage on our wrist, and dancing the night away with our friends for the last dance of our high school lives. Prom season is just around the corner and everyone is on the hunt for the perfect dress, hoping they don’t end up looking like everyone else.

This year the dress collection for the 2012 prom season mainly consists of bright colors, sparkles, and short dresses with long trains.

Another popular trend in the prom world are printed dresses. Floral, animal, and abstract lines are dominating various dress sites. Getting any of the printed gowns will definitely set you apart from other fellow prom goers. Also popular in the prom 2012 collection are dresses showing skin. Whether it’s a long slit up the side, a low back, or open midriff the exposing prom dresses seem to be in this season.

With everyone getting these same styles, you need to spice up your look. If you get a dress with a few different colors you can stand out by getting a bright shoe to make one hidden color on the dress pop. Jewelry is also a big addition to your prom outfit. Usually wearing too many bracelets or necklaces can make you look tacky, but if you wear a plain colored dress that doesn’t have too many accents added onto it, then jewelry will be the perfect way to include some sparkle. You can also use bows or crazy colored hair, feather, or glitter extensions to glam up your appearance.
