Have you wanted to get something out of your backpack, but it required too much movement to retrieve it? Don’t fret. In 1988, an ideal solution was discovered. Although its probably one of the greatest inventions of our time, most of the population continues to under-utilize it. This invention is none other than the fanny pack. The fanny pack has an awkward name, but its usefulness definitely isn’t awkward. The name derives its early years. It used to be worn with the pack at the gluteus maximas. The slang term for gluteus maximas at the time was fanny, and once fanny and pack were combined, the term “fanny pack” emerged.
While, the fanny pack is often stereotyped as worn only by old women joggers and tourists, its convenience makes it a must for everyone. On the surface, it is commonly known that the fanny pack’s primary use as a holder for items. However, it is this very thing that makes the fanny pack a useful tool. Another benefit of the fanny pack is its light weight. The fanny pack itself is not heavy at all, and when items are put into it, the weight of the items seems to disappear. When compared to holding an item in say a pocket or backpack the fanny pack will, hands down, prove to be the better alternative.
It’s not just the ability to make everything light that makes the fanny pack great, but also its capability for storage that makes the fanny pack stand out. If you were to empty your pockets right now, what would you find? Possibly a phone, a pen or pencil, a pair of keys, and money. The fanny pack can easily store all of these items at once, and would declutterize crammed pockets.
Perhaps the best reason why the fanny pack should be utilized is because of its overall convenience. Think about it. The fanny pack is right there, right in front of you. No more moving, no more digging, and no more reaching because the fanny pack can store anything you want at will.
While backpacks and pockets are indeed effective storage, these items will never have the convenience that the fanny pack offers. Pockets carry less capacity and tend to be more disorganized and backpacks are just too bulky and require too much movement.
Still, despite all the benefits that fanny packs have, society refuses to accept the fanny pack as useful. When people think of fanny packs, they only see it as unfashionable and not worth using. However, once people accept the ability of the fanny pack this useful invention can begin to thrive in society.
