Computer Science Club is a new club formed this year at CCHS to compliment the computer science class and its goal is to introduce students to programming and other aspects of computer science.
The club is sponsored by computer science teacher David Schultz and will take place in room 233 every Thursday. The presidents of the club are Marco Van Hilst and Andrew Hopper.
“Computer Science has been severely underrepresented at Cooper. Learning new technology is literally the best way to prepare for the future,” President of Administration Andrew Hopper said.
By the end of the year the club plans on creating apps, entering programming competitions and creating a game based on member suggestions. They will also be working with the other STEM Clubs (Science Club, Engineering and Inventing Club and Mu Alpha Theta) to launch wider scale projects.
Members of the Computer Science Club also have to opportunity to become “Project Managers”. Similar to other club committees, these project managers will be able to launch programming projects and lead their own dedicated teams to work on them.
“Our goal is to expose the school to all the amazing aspects of computer science,” Hopper said.
