On Tuesday March 21, in their first game of the week, the Cowboys traveled to Coral Glades High School to face off against the Jaguars.
Coral Glades is a challenging opponent to face, and they have had great success in past years. The Cowboys were hoping to sneak a win by coming out strong from the start, but Coral Glades High School proved to be a formidable opponent. In the first few innings, the Jaguars established themselves, gaining runs swiftly and making the Cowboys have to work even harder to get back into the game. The Cowboys put the first few innings behind them, trying to get some runs cross home plate.
Though the Cowboys were successful in gaining hits, it was a difficult task for them to make a comeback, as the final score was 10-0. Coral Glades played very well at home, and caught the Cowboys on an off day, as the Cowboys look to build off of this learning experience and improve for future games.
On Friday, March 24th, the Cowboys looked to turn their fortunes around from their last game, and come out victorious. Cooper City High School traveled to the Taravella High School Trojans, where they faced yet another difficult opponent.
Especially after last games rough start, the Cowboys to build off of for the whole game. In the first inning neither team could get anything going, but this was a better sign for the Cowboys defensively as they did not allow any runs in the first inning.
The next few innings would prove to be tough for the Cowboys, as Taravella scored one run in each of these 3 innings. The Cowboys wanted to retaliate by adding runs themselves, but failed to do so. The Cowboys had their chances in the final innings but could not get anything going to give themselves a chance to win. The Cowboys fell for the second time of the week losing 3-0, but look to move on from this week and renew things next week.
