The boys’ volleyball team has started their season with four consecutive wins. On March 4, the team claimed another win against the Western High School Wildcats. The team won all three of the sets they played.

The Cowboys started off the game claiming the first two points. The Wildcats scored twice but the Cowboys scored six times in a row, making it 8-2. Western scored a couple of times before Cooper City came back, scoring four more. Both teams kept scoring consecutively until the set ended with Cooper City ahead 25-17.

The Cowboys and Wildcats kept the scores close and neither could gain much of a lead until the Cowboys scored five times in a row.

The second set was much closer. Both teams kept scoring one right after the other. Western started off scoring the first point. Cooper City scored three times in a row, but Western fired back scoring and kept it close. The Wildcats were up towards the middle of the set with a score of 11-10.

After that, Cooper City came alive, scoring five times in a row and giving themselves a lead. Western was behind but both teams kept pushing. Western scored and then Cooper followed suit, which repeated multiple times until the score was 19-14. The Wildcats scored three times in a row but Cooper City kept their lead and ended the set 25-19.

“The team played very well,” co-captain Ian Espinoza said. “We have a lot of things we can improve on, but that just means the season is going to get better from here.”

The team is currently undefeated, winning all seven of the games they have played. They are looking forward to a successful season.

The last set ended in a win but the score was close almost the entire game. The first point went to the Cowboys. The Cowboys and Wildcats kept the scores close and neither could gain much of a lead until the Cowboys scored five times in a row. Cooper City had a couple of instances where they would score four times in a row. The Wildcats had a few rallies but could not keep up. The Wildcats got one more before Cooper City made the score 24-17. The Cowboys only had to get one more point but Western did not back down. The set ended with a close score of 25-23.

“I think the game went pretty well. There are definitely things we could have worked on and improved on in the game. It was a lot closer than we anticipated it to be,” co-captain Ethan Silverman said. “There’s definitely more room for improvement later on in the season and we will be ready to beat them next time.”

The team is currently undefeated, winning all seven of the games they have played. They are looking forward to a successful season.

“So currently, we are undefeated and have not given up a single set to any team,” co-captain Ethan Frankel said. “We are looking towards district championships as we are confident in the rest of our season and are pursuing an undefeated season.”
