The CCHS girls and boys tennis team took on South Plantation High School on Tuesday, March 20th.
The boys came out strong and shut out the Paladins, with a final score of 7-0. In the singles matches, there were great performances by No. 3 singles player Austin Taylor, No. 4 singles player Jose Enriquez and No. 5 singles player Andrew Morales. No. 1 doubles team Austin Taylor and John Junctman fought hard and pulled out a 7-5 win in an exciting tie-breaker.
The girls team put up a tough fight and pulled out a win despite being down three team members due to absences. No. 1 singles player Amanda Yellen and No. 3 singles player Erika Martinez both had impressive matches that put the Cowboys in an early lead. However, after No. 2 singles player Rachel Sharpe and No. 4 singles player Hannah Katz lost their matches, it was up to the doubles team of Amanda Yellen and Rachel Sharpe to bring the Cowboys to victory. Yellen and Sharpe defeated the Paladins with a final score of 8-0, improving the team’s overall season record to 3-3.
