BY KENDYL COUNTS

Graduation may only be days away, but there are still plenty of reminders to take note of and loose ends to tie up. Here is everything you need to know to ensure that your last weeks of high school go as smoothly as possible.

Final Transcripts

To send a final transcript to the college or university that you will be attending after graduation, you must complete the Senior Survey on Naviance Family Connection. Sending a final transcript of your grades is vital to the completion of the college registration process and must be done as soon as possible. For any questions regarding the survey, visit Mrs. Siwek in the BRACE office.

Final Exam Schedule

Final exam week for Seniors will consist of normal school days, with exams administered during scheduled periods. Students are expected to attend classes on Monday and Tuesday when exams are not being given, and have all exams completed by the end of the day on Thursday, May 25th. The grading matrix for students exempting exams can be found here.

Textbook Return

The textbook room is open to seniors on May 22 and May 23 from 7:15 to 7:30 and during A and B lunch, and on May 24 and May 25 from 7:15 to 7:30 and from 10:30 to 10:45. All senior textbooks must be returned by 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 25.

Graduation Rehearsal

A mandatory set of graduation rehearsals will be held on Monday, June 5 beginning at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday, June 6, beginning at 8:00 a.m. On Monday, students should meet in the auditorium with their signed decorum letter. Seat assignments and outstanding obligations will be addressed at this time, and a senior brunch will be held until about 1:00.  Caps, gowns and tickets will be distributed on Tuesday from the mini gym. Pick up times are staggered based on the first letter of your last name and go as follows:

8:30-10:00        A-G

10:00-11:30      H-P

11:30- 12:30    Break

12:30- 2:00      Q-Z

Those unable to attend the rehearsals must fill out a conflict form to give to Mrs. McNeal in 3433 before the event.  In the case of a conflict, parents can pick up their student’s cap, gown and tickets with identification and written consent documented on the conflict form.

Graduation

Graduation will take place on Wednesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at Nova Southeastern University in the Rick Case arena. Doors will open at 6 p.m., at which time graduates themselves must be seated, and will close at 7 p.m. sharp. Parking at NSU is $7 per vehicle, and graduates are expected pay for parking as well.

Guests will not have assigned seating and are forbidden from bringing items that may obstruct the hearing or viewing of graduation, such as balloons or noisemakers. ADA accommodations for guests include an elevator and ADA seating along the upper rails, where one family member can accompany the guest in need of accommodations.

Following the ceremony, seniors are welcome to keep their caps, medallions, tassels, cords, diploma and cover. Diploma plaques can be purchased on the evening of the ceremony.
