The Cowboys returned home against the Hollywood Hills Spartans on Tuesday, December 13th, for an exciting game that came down to the wire. The Cowboys pulled away with a 56-48 win.

In the first quarter, Cooper City played strong defense, and were knocking down shots from the start. Though they were playing well, they were only up by three, but looked to keep pushing going into the second quarter up 14-11.

Hollywood hills held their ground in the second, exchanging shots with the Cowboys in a very even game. Both teams before the half were playing well on both sides of the ball, and it showed with the second quarter having the same amount of points scored by each team. The Cowboys maintained the lead before the half, 30-27.

In the second half, the Cowboys looked poised to take over. They forced turnovers and created good fastbreak opportunities. In the 3rd quarter the Cowboys outscored Hollywood Hills 17-12, and took advantage of any mistake Hollywood Hills created. “The biggest play of the game was when i got a steal and then Noah Peska hit two threes back to back.” said Sophomore Bryce Weinsier. In the 4th quarter it was a low scoring affair, as neither team completely dominated and had an even score of 9-9, which led to a Cowboys win of 56-48. Although the Cowboys did win, Weinsier said “I feel that we didn’t play to our full potential and we could’ve played better; but we played through it and got a win.” The Cowboys look to build off this momentum as they are 2-2 in their district being in third place.
