On Wednesday, November 2nd, the gym was flooded with CCHS students dressed in their class colors ready for battle. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors alike all had one goal in mind: winning Crazy Feats.
A known staple of Cooper City High and undoubtedly the most popular homecoming event, Crazy Feats is always held on Wednesday and serves the purpose of bringing classes together. Constant cheering, class chants and loud music are not a rare occurrence at the event. With the freshman dressed in white, sophomores in black, juniors in red and seniors in all three, the bleachers in the gym looked like an abstract art project.
“Crazy Feats is probably one of the biggest school events all year, it’s where all the classes compete in all types of events such as orange toss and blindfolded musical chairs. The winner takes the trophy,” junior class President Jessica Less said. “It’s so much fun seeing all the school spirit CCHS has and definitely something I look forward to every year.”
There are ten events where each class will contest each other hoping to either win or rank highest as possible. In each event a class will be ranked from 1 to 4 and are given points accordingly. If a class wins 1st, they are given one point, 2nd receives two points, and so on; the winner of Crazy Feats is the class with the least number of points.
“It was super fun and every class showed their school spirit in the best way possible!” SGA president Carolina Chiari said.
Some events included wheelbarrow racing, cup stacking and chicken toss. An unorthodox event, chicken toss is where a rubber chicken is launched into a hula hoop for a point, the seniors won 16-15 against the Juniors. Crazy Feats concluded with a crowd favorite event, tug-of-war between the classes. This year, the final round was between the juniors and the seniors. The seniors overpowered the juniors and won the round and the entire competition as well.
This year, along with many previous years, the class of 2017 did not break the tradition of taking the trophy, becoming the reigning champions and dominating the competition by 5 points.
