This week, Cooper City High students and staff will be celebrating their “Through The Decades” homecoming with various themed dress-up days and after school festivities that will lead up to the big homecoming dance on Saturday night.
Each day of the week is assigned a different decade and specific theme that the students of Cooper are supposed to emulate. There are also the standard homecoming after school activities that all of the students know and love.
“I’m most excited for lip sync battle for sure,” junior Sarah Lopez said. “I think it’s an awesome way to let people just let loose and have fun by singing their favorite songs without actually having to sing.”
CCHS Students will dress up for Halloween on 50s Monster Mash Monday in a spooky costume. Tuesday is all about 70s tie-dye. Each grade level is assigned a color to wear–freshmen are yellow, sophomores are orange, juniors are green, and seniors are purple. Each class will dress up in their respective colors and compete in a color war against the other classes. Wednesday is 80s/90s day where students will dress up as their favorite music artists from either decade. Throwback Thursday is a day that CCHS students will reminisce as they dress up as characters from their favorite childhood TV shows. CCHS will bring it “Back to the Cooper” on Friday when the students dress up in red, black, and white to show off their Cowboy Pride.
“I’m really excited for Throwback Thursday because being able to see all of my peers dressed up as some of my favorite childhood TV show characters will bring back good memories,” junior Alexis Shectman said.
The homecoming festivities don’t end when school does, there are competitions after school everyday Tuesday through Friday starting with Crazy Kickball on Tuesday evening at 5:00. Each grade level plays against the others in a kickball tournament to see which class will be victorious. Crazy Feats, another class competition, will be taking place on Wednesday at 6:00 pm. Thursday at 5:00 pm is the Lip Sync Battle in which CCHS students prepare lip syncing acts and compete to see, once again, which class is the victor. Friday night is the big homecoming game that starts at 7:00 but before that is a football game pre-party for all of the students to get hyped about the game.
Homecoming week is a great opportunity for CCHS students to have fun with their peers all while displaying how much they enjoy their school, and most importantly, their Cowboy Pride.
