In March, Ultra Music Festival took over the city of Miami. Fans from around the world made the trip to South Florida to experience the ultimate conglomeration of house, trap, and dubstep music. Electronic dance music is taking over the world; one country at a time, and EDM festivals are popping up around the U.S. The next concert sensation that is coming up in late May is called Sunset Music Festival.

Sunset Music Festival is a one-day music festival that will be hosting some of the best DJ’s in the world. The event is taking place in Tampa, Florida, and fans will flock to Central Florida to attend. You can expect to see people from all over the country and all around the world. This shows how much the electronic industry is growing and becoming increasingly popular.

“Before Ultra I wasn’t really the biggest fan of house music because I didn’t know what it was about,” senior Jonathan Ohayon said. “Now after I’ve attended such an incredible festival [Ultra] I found a passion for this genre of music.”

A music festival would be nothing if it weren’t for the lineup. This year there will be major headliners at Sunset, including: Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Flosstradamus, and Dillon Francis. Although there are many music festivals popping up around the country, Sunset will be showcasing on some of the best names there are in the industry today. It is another example that electronic music really is taking over this generation of music fans.

“Sunset is going to be epic, because for Ultra, they spread out the DJ’s throughout the 3 days,” senior Zach Korfin said. “Sunset has the advantage of piling in all of the DJ’s into one day to create an experience like no other.”

Sunset is technically considered a mini Ultra because unlike most festivals it will only be occurring for one day in May, yet a similar sized audience is expected to attend. “They are trying to bring in new fans. It’s smart. EDM is the rock and roll of this generation. If you’re not in it, you’re getting left out” said Photographer Seth Browarnik during an interview on CBS Miami.
