After a historic 2010 campaign, the Cowboys returned to the field on Friday August 26th in a preseason match-up against Miami Ferguson. The Cowboys took early control of the game and didn’t look back in a 50-7 victory.
The win doesn’t count on their official record, but the Cowboys made a statement in their first on field play of the 2011 season. Senior running back Camden Krohn led the way scoring five touchdowns on only 10 total touches.
Krohn broke off two huge runs for scores that had the student section going nuts. However, he wasn’t done yet, catching a screen pass from quarterback Lemond Johnson for another score. The Cowboy senior also returned a punt for a touchdown showing that whatever the situation you want the ball in his hands.
“I try to not let the pressure get in my head,” Krohn said.
Second year coach Art Taylor was more than pleased with his teams 50-7 rout of the Ferguson Falcons. With the weather constantly getting in the way of practice time, coach Taylor wasn’t sure what he’d see on the field.
“We definitely played better than expected,” Coach Taylor said. “We had very limited practice and looked great.”
While the road to a second district title may be a rough one, the Cowboys certainly are headed in the right direction. The Cowboys kick off the 2011 season at home against Everglades on Friday September 2nd.
