On Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, CCHS’s NJROTC had their annual Area Managers Inspection.
The inspection is a company- wide review of the NJROTC program, consisting of individual inspections and analysis of the progress as a unit. The event was held on the CCHS football field with the main objective of testing for improvement and growth as a unit.
NJROTC has been preparing for this inspection throughout the year. All of their work has been monitored under their commanders to ensure they were prepared for the scrutiny of the Area Manager, Commander Hebert who led the inspection.
“Inspection day is a big deal,” Senior Naval Science Instructor Jose Testa said. “It’s what the cadets work hard for year round.”
The inspection started off with a personal review of each cadet. The Area Manager looked for how “sharp” they looked, making sure their grooming standards were up to par, their uniform and shoes were being worn properly, and that they presented themselves with pride.
Following the general inspection was the field inspection, where parents and staff were given the chance to enjoy the show. The armed drill team, consisting of 12 selected students, performed their routine and impressed the audience. All four platoons then saluted the Area Manager and marched off to end the field inspection.
After a successful classroom inspection, a meeting with principal Wendy Doll, a lunch for all the participants, and a private briefing with the Area Manager and the executive officers, the inspection was complete.
“Myself, Executive Office TJ Burch, and Operations Officer Heather Rossi received the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Area Manager directly, which is the highest award you can get in NJROTC’s program,” NJROTC Executive Officer Daniel Yanks said.
Overall, CCHS’s NJROTC had commendable results on this year’s inspection.
