Cooper City High School’s NJROTC is holding their first ever Battle of the Teachers: Teacher Boot Camp on May 24, 2011 to help raise money for NJROTC.
Cooper City High School teachers and staff will be put to the test as they compete in rigorous contests that will be designed by NJROTC students. These competitions will include games such as tug-of-war and “izzy dizzy,” an event where teachers and staff will have to spin around in circles and run across the gym. Teachers will also compete in other funny events similar to the activities in both the Crazy Feats and Field Day events.
“The events will consist of everything from running races to egg tosses to puzzles that will challenge Cooper City’s teachers both physically and mentally,” Leanne Rossi said. “The event is designed to be fun for both teachers and students.”
There will be 4 teams with 10 teachers on each team. The teams will represent the four branches of the military. The teachers and staff will have to use teamwork in order to successfully complete the events. The groups will consist of teachers and staff including Mrs. Wendy Doll, Mr. Michael Hraback, Ms. Suzi Margolin, Coach Art Taylor, Ms. Jeanette Cruz, and a few others who are willing to put their endurance to the test.
“I think Hrabak is going to be one of the biggest competitors for the teachers,” Senior Heather Laiho said.
The participating teachers will begin training by practicing the events ahead of time. The winning military group will have bragging rights amongst other teachers at CCHS. The boot camp will be a fun and exciting way for NJROTC to raise money for their program.
The idea for the event came from Senior Daniel Yanks. Rather than selling candy or having a car wash, Yanks came up with the idea to hold a teacher boot camp. The proceeds of the boot camp will go to NJROTC’s Awards Night and to help send more cadets to upcoming competitions.
