After 15 years, the weight room at CCHS is about to get a new look. Before the school year, the football team usually holds summer workouts, giving students who want to join the team time to practice before the season begins early in the year. The weight room is an essential part of these workouts since players use the equipment to work out and train. The school facilitators believed that the room needed change so they took action.
“I think this will bring a whole different aspect of training and conditioning for the school, the athletes, kids, everyone.”
The old weights will be replaced by high quality equipment which will be used by the CCHS football players, as well as students who are interested in taking the weight training class at the school.
The entire process of renovating the weight room will cost over $100,000 and include new hammer strength equipment, more full racks, a new turf floor, more plate-loaded machines and an increased variety of equipment. The room will also be repainted along with placement of motivational quotes around the room.
Many of the football players at CCHS are excited to work out and train in a new weight room. The players like the idea of working out with new, high quality equipment and are looking forward to having the weight room renovated.

“It feels great knowing that it’s going to improve,” sophomore and varsity defensive tackle Julius Jimenez said. “It will make us, as a team, want to lift more from all of the different variety of weights, making us more ready for games than we have ever been.”
The coaches of the football team are also looking forward to having a new weight room and watching their players grow with all the new resources coming in the renovated weight room.
“I think it’s definitely amazing that it’s getting renovated,” head coach Daniel Carlisle said. “I think this will bring a whole different aspect of training and conditioning for the school, the athletes, kids, everyone.”
The weight room is most likely to be completely renovated by mid-September. CCHS athletes are ready to use all the new resources and technology that will be included in the new weight room as they continue to represent the school through sports.
“The players did a good job with the old weight room,” Coach Carlisle said. “The new weight room is going to be absolutely amazing and the players are really going to love it. They’re going to have a place to work out where they don’t need to go get a gym membership because this will be state-of-the-art equipment.”
