I have no excuse to miss a deadline ever again.
In less than three days, I wrote three articles, shot a video and edited it. I’m so pumped right now.
Let me back up. It is Web Week here at the cherub program, meaning that we are creating the 2011 website for future cherubs, journalism advisors and parents so they can see what The National High School Institute is all about. Our deadline is 5 p.m. tonight, so currently everyone is scrambling to get that last quote or add that last transition to a video. We have only had about three days to pull it all together, which I think is pretty impressive. Start preparing yourself for the unveiling on Thursday.
While there has been a whirlwind of activities, I had such a great week. I wrote a blog for Blog Club where I finally found a “journey.” I learned how to shoot and edit video, even if my first one – which is unfortunately going on the website – is not the greatest. But I’m proud of it nonetheless. I also got great feedback on all my stories, including a comment about how I was going to make it in this business. That means more to me than anything else. Even though I believe in myself, it’s always good to know that I have people backing me up, especially when they’re professionals.
I can’t even begin to explain how much I’ve learned here. I can’t imagine spending my summer doing anything else. But I’m not going to get all sappy yet; I still have three more days left.
Oh wow. Three days.
Three days until I have to pack my bags. Three days until I have to say goodbye to my friends. Three days until I have to leave Northwestern University for an indefinite amount of time. Three days until I get back to the real world and begin my college applications.
And in three days, everyone at home will see how much this experience has changed me.
