The girls varsity softball team faced off against Coral Glades high school on Tuesday, April 18th. The girls came out extremely strong, scoring four runs in the first inning. Senior Kara Lokeinsky pitched very well and only allowed two hits and one run. The Cowboys were beating the Jaguars by a significant amount, but that didn’t stop them from giving their all. Freshman Brenna Lokeinsky went 2-3 and made several infield plays to save the Cowboys’ run rule. The Cowboys were still fighting, when sophomore Kaia Weaver went 3-4 and hit a walk off to finish the game. The game went all the way until the fifth quarter, with the Cowboys winning their first game of the week with a score of 11-1. “Everyone hit really well and our defense was solid,” sophomore Michelle Adelman said.

Two days later, the Lady Cowboys made their way to Pines Charter High School to play their second game of the week. The girls screamed their cheer and ran out onto the field, ready to play. The Jaguars came out very strong and were able to score runs in the first inning. Sophomore Jasmin Herrera went 1-3 as well as Katy Thompson. “I think we hit great on Tuesday and had just an overall solid game,” Herrera said. “While on Thursday our offense just wasn’t there.” The Cowboys gave it their all but were unable to score any runs. The game resulted in a loss for the Cowboys, with a score of 2-0.
