Our Cooper City Cowboys Girls Soccer team faced off against the Nova Titans on November 5th. It was not only their first game of the season but it was also the Cowboy’s first district game.

In the first half, the Cowboys kept on advancing the ball up field constantly working towards a shot on goal. Finally after much time working with the ball, forward Lexi Abrahamoff scored the Cowboys first goal, putting the Cowboys up 1-0. The Cowboys defense was led by senior Siera Rojas and senior Emily Engberg and this dynamic duo were relentless all night, not letting the ball get by them. The Titans defenders were looking weary and were not able to keep up with the Cowboy’s as forward Jemma Miller went on to score two goals back to back on amazing breakaways.

During the second half, the Cowboys did not let up and continued to lock the Titans down with amazing defense. Junior goalie Isabella Martin came up with some amazing saves. Later on in the half though, Martin made a costly mistake allowing the ball to travel past her, giving the Lady Titans their first, and only, goal of the night. Jemma Miller responded immediately, scoring her third goal and giving her a hat trick in her first ever high school game.

“It feel’s so good. I mean I am just a freshman, and this is my first game, so this is a huge accomplishment,” Miller said.

Thanks to outstanding play the Cowboys picked up their first district win of the season 4-1.
