The Cooper City Cowboys took on district opponent Plantation on Friday September 30th looking to stay undefeated and win their second district game of the season. After sitting through a nearly 2 hour lightning delay, the teams took the field ready to play.

Plantation started off strong with two quick scores, but after a fumble recovery by senior Eleazar Rausseo with 4:14 left in the first quarter, the Cowboys kicked a field goal to make the score 14-9 with Plantation ahead by 5.

Things quickly turned in the Cowboys favor, when senior Chris Couvillon returned an interception for a touchdown with 30 seconds left in the first quarter giving the Cowboys a 17-14 lead. Then, with 1:40 left in the first half, junior quarterback Lemond Johnson rushed for a 5-yard touchdown run. The Cowboys defense was impenetrable, allowing 0 points after the first quarter and setting CCHS up with great field position.

The Cowboys went on to beat the Colonels 44-14. Senior running back Camden Krohn had 53 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and senior quarterback Sam Wilensky completed 6 of his 11 pass attempts for 130 yards.

The Cowboys next game will be on October 14th for their homecoming game against Western. It will be the final home game of the 2011 season so make sure to come out and support the Cowboys!
