The time had come for the Cooper City High School Swim team to show off all their hard works and desire. On Wednesday, October 25 the Cowboys Swim team prepared for the district meet. Both boys and girls placed second, bringing home a plaque and advancing on to regionals.

Tension sparked between Cooper City and Cypress Bay, especially when the boys teams 400 freestyle relay plunged into the water. The Cowboys beat the Lightning in the 400 relay for the first time. Following that victory was another success by the Cowboys, winning the 200 freestyle relay. With these wins and strong efforts in individual races, it just did not seem to be enough, coming in just a few points behind Cypress.

Although the team did place first in almost all of their meets this year, they have more to come with regionals just around the corner. This meet left the swimmers showing their passion and drive to win.

Week after week, the Golding sisters’ have consistently shown victory and compatibility. At the district meet, Kathleen Golding came in first place in the 200 medley individual race. Just behind her was her younger sister, Molly Golding, in second place. Kathleen then went on to win the 100 free-style race, and following her was Solana Capello, who came in second place. Molly Golding proceeded on to her own race, taking first in the 100 breastroke.

The girls 200 freestyle relay came in first, along with their 200 medley relay team. Barbie Bernal then won the individual 500 freestyle. However, the girls just fell short of first place, but still continued on to regionals.

This was one of the most crucial meets, mentally and physically, with cool weather conditions. Now that districts is over, it is time for regionals and the swim team to learn from the past and benefit from it.
