Based on the success of fall spirit week, the student government association and the class of 2018 decided to reinstate the renowned week of celebration leading up to a school dance last week, giving it a cool, new spring vibe.

“Spring Spirit week is an awesome way to revamp the cowboy spirit after the long wait since the fall one,” senior Carolina Chiari said.

The week allowed for students to exhibit their cowboy pride through a wide range of event themes that determined their outfit of the day. It progressed as follows:

March Madness Monday

On Monday, everyone was told to dress in their favorite sports team’s memorabilia in honor of the basketball March Madness tournament.

Twinning Tuesday

For Twinning Tuesday, anyone who approached Cooper City High School would think they were seeing double as twins littered the school grounds!

“I really enjoyed dressing up for spring spirit week because it [created] an atmosphere on campus unlike any other, ” junior Jenny Burleton and senior Chad Shillito said.

Wacky Wednesday

Students dressed in their wildest and wackiest outfits to commemorate the beginning of spring, showing that the teens of Cooper really know how to have a laugh!

Time Travel Thursday

For Thursday, teachers as well as students were able to travel back in time and adorned costumes that were reminiscent of their favorite time period.

St. Patrick’s Day

The school week ended with the notoriously quirky Irish holiday and many students wore green; however, those who didn’t spent the day in fear of being pinched!

“Spirit week is a way to fit some extra happiness into the school year right before we take exams,” junior Isabella Tocci said.

Sadie Hawkin’s Dance

Sadie Hawkins is a concept wherein girls ask guys to a dance and presented a fresh, contemporary tradition for Cowboys to enjoy for years to come. The dance was held in the school’s cafeteria and featured snow cones, ice cream, a photo booth and a Great Gatsby theme. Goers were also able to enjoy the company of their friends in a relaxed atmosphere as well as some of their favorite teachers who wanted to join in with the fun.

“The dance was a fun place to hang out with some of my really good friends,” junior Atiya Pitaktrakul said. “My favorite part would have to be the ice cream and snow cones I got and just dancing and enjoying the music.”

Another student also took pleasure in the experience and would to glad to go to another Sadie Hawkins dance in the future.

“I really enjoyed it and had a great time,” junior Stav Sharoni said. “It was fun to have a dance like this because we usually only see a Sadie Hawkins dance on television or in movies. I hope they have it again next year!”

Spring Spirit Week was planned as a much-needed week of excitement that endeavored to prepare students to finish the school year strongly and seems as if it succeeded as the students of Cooper can’t wait to participate again soon.
