No other genre of music has as many feuds as hip-hop. Famous rappers Cardi B (Belcalis Almanzar) and Nicki Minaj (Onika Tanya Maraj) have not been on good terms lately- the stars broke out into a fight on Friday, September 7. The physical altercation occurred as they were leaving the New York Fashion Week’s annual “Harper’s Bazaar ICONS” party.

According to Vanity Fair, Cardi B initiated the chaos by throwing her red high-heel at Minaj. Afterward, security was forced to escort her out. Videos of the fight have been circulating online and they reveal Cardi B lunging forward while bodyguards restrain her. Different photos show Cardi B leaving the function with no shoes on and some also expose a huge bruise on the side of her forehead, supposedly formed by a security guard’s elbow.

She felt humiliated and ashamed of the way Cardi B and herself had created a disruption that night.

Cardi B claimed that Minaj was speaking poorly about her parenting skills, as well as her eight-week-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus. After hearing that Minaj was trash-talking the things that are most important to her, she felt the need to attack and induce pandemonium to break out.

However, based on Elle, “Minaj accused Cardi and her publicist of making that reason up to paint Minaj as the bad guy.”

A few days after the fight, Minaj also claimed that she “would never, has never and will never speak ill of anyone’s child.”

Found in CBS News, Minaj stated that it was “especially embarrassing that the fight took place in front of ‘upper echelon people who have their lives together.’”

She felt humiliated and ashamed of the way Cardi B and herself had created a disruption that night.

“I wish I would have seen this juiciness go down,” Aguilera said. “I didn’t know.”

Just minutes after the feud, Cardi B posted about the scene on her Instagram account. Without mentioning Minaj’s name, she explains that Minaj has already spoken badly about her in the past. Cardi B states that mentioning her child is what really set her off.

Singer-songwriter and five-time Grammy winner Christina Aguilera was performing on stage when the battle broke out. Rumors were spread that she was angry with the stars for all the commotion, but she was quick to put an end to them. US Weekly confirms that Aguilera didn’t hear about the fight until later that evening, and she spoke about her thoughts on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

“I wish I would have seen this juiciness go down,” Aguilera said. “I didn’t know.”

Both Cardi B and Minaj could have addressed the issue in a much more professional way. Instead of throwing shoes and making something small to be the size of the universe, the artists could have spoken to each other one-to-one outside of the public vicinity. The drama between the two celebrities seems to be ridiculous and uncalled for. There’s no need to make a big deal out of a conflict that should have just been resolved in a more mature manner. Cardi B was just asking for the attention this time.
