Lil Wayne (Dwayne M. Carter, Jr.) is one of rap’s most influential artists. On Wayne’s new mixtape, Dedication 4, he raps with aggressive intensity and great flow, using his brilliant rhyming techniques to create his best work since Tha Carter IV.

On every track of Dedication 4 Wayne throws punch lines with fierce intensity. Right off the bat on the single “So Dedicated” he goes hard in verses such as “that presidential double R, call it Ronald Reagan”. He also spits with intensity on his version of Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like” which reminds fans of why they fell in love with his music. His hostility on these tracks and others is very much apparent. The lyrics on this mixtape may not hold any life lessons, but he rhymes with a fiery intensity that shows why he’s still one of the toughest rappers of the decade.

Weezy’s pristine flow on Dedication 4 doesn’t fail to impress. His rhyming techniques prove haters wrong especially on the track “Green Ranger” featuring J.Cole, where he raps lines like  “Tall white tee’s, can’t believe we used to wear those, White folks looking at us like we’re weirdos, But we was only kiddo’s.” His flow also shines on the second verse of the track “Cashed Out” when he raps about his dedication to his label, “ Money talks: mine got a nasty mouth, it’s Young Money, Cash Money till the day I’m cashing out!” Wayne’s way with words prove that even though he may not be a full-time rapper anymore, he is still big in the rap industry.

On Dedication 4, Lil Wayne satisfies fans and shows signs of a comeback to his old self. This isn’t his best work, but is the most exceptional since Tha Carter IV. I give this mixtape an 8 of 10 because of the great intensity & flow he demonstrates on a majority of the tracks.
