While fall sports are coming to a close for the 2018-2019 school year, winter and some spring sports have begun preparing for their upcoming seasons. With players leaving and joining, the many teams are sure to have exciting seasons.

Wrestling’s season is from November to March. The wrestling team has not had a state qualifier in two years. However, the team plans on breaking that streak.

“This year is going to change everything for coach because our team is going to be a lot closer than it’s been the past few seasons,” Joey Riestra said. “We will always have each other’s backs on and off the wrestling mats.”

“I am fired up.”

The girls basketball team has started having meetings and pre-season workouts. Their tryouts are on November 29, and the season begins right afterwards. The boys basketball team has two seasons: fall and spring. The fall season is from September to December while the spring season is from January to April.

“I am fired up. We have some new and some returning faces,” girls basketball coach Dave Johnson said. “We are looking to make our mark in the new division.”

Baseball is completing a fall season before their real one during the spring. Conditioning starts in November, preparing the junior varsity and varsity team. Softball has started conditioning for their upcoming season. The softball tryouts are in January, but they’re starting off strong. Coming off of their successful last season, the softball team hopes they will make it to states again.

“I think this season is going to be one of our best,” senior Michelle Adelman said. “This year we are more motivated than ever and we have one of the best shots of getting a ring.”

“I think the team is going to do great this year.”

The boys lacrosse team is having their first meeting on October 28. They will start conditioning in January. The girls lacrosse team will also start conditioning in January and will start their season in February.

“I think the team is going to do great this year,” junior Jackson Blocker said. “We had a lot of struggles last year and we still did really good.”

Boys and girls soccer is starting off soon with their two seasons, both fall and spring. The fall season is from September to December. The spring season is from January to April. The goal is to get to districts, regionals and states.

Several other sports such as flag football and track only start in spring. The players are looking forward to their winter and spring seasons. In a few short months, the CCHS sports are going to be in full swing.
