The girls varsity softball team had three games this week, losing one to Palm Beach Gardens and winning two to Hollywood Hills.

On Monday, March 13th, the girls varsity softball team faced off against the Palm Beach Gardens Gators. The Lady Cowboys were up the the whole game, scoring runs in the 3rd inning and the 6th inning. Cooper City challenged the Gators, making them unable to score any runs. It was the top of the 7th inning  with two outs when a player on Palm Beach hit the ball and ran to first base. The player caught the Cowboys off guard and was able to steal 2nd base. The next girl up hit a homerun to tie the game at 2-2. The Cowboys didn’t score at the bottom of the 7th inning. The Cowboys went all the way to the 8th inning, both fighting for the win. The Cowboys were unable to score in the 8th inning; however, the Gators were able to score one. The game ended with a score of 2-3, with Palm Beach Gardens taking home the win. “The team is doing is very well, and we are hitting way better,” sophomore Jasmin Herrera said. “Of course we can improve on some aspects of the game, but with time we will get there.”

On Thursday, March 20th, the girls played two games against Hollywood Hills. The first game, pitcher Shelby Jones, had a perfect game. The Cowboys fought hard and played only three innings, winning the game with a score of 17-0. “We’ve done really well this season,” Jones said. “We have really come together offensively now and are starting to really look like we want to win.” The next game started soon after and played just as well as they did the first game. The Cowboys had a great game offensively, winning again with a score of 17-0.
