Cooper City High has always been home to a diverse student body, and the Variety Show is showcasing several talented seniors’ unique gifts.

“It’s essentially a talent show where anyone from there school can show off what they are passionate about,” Senior class president Samantha Steinberg said. “We call it a Variety Show rather than a regular talent show because it’s not only singers and dancers, we have beatboxers, piano players, and other acts.”

The show will be held the entire week of December 5th. Tickets are on presale for $7 and $10 at the gate. The money raised contributes to the Senior Prom in May.

The five hosts, Jason Chua, Kali Rogers, Yesteffany Meier, Rayn Caldwell, and  Jacob Rones, will provide entertainment between acts.

“We handpicked these people because we found them all capable of working a crowd,” CTV teacher Alfredo Pichardo said. “They are all outgoing, fun and enthusiastic, which are qualities we specifically looked for during the interviews.”

Mr. Pichardo and Ms. Shay have been involved with the Variety Show for a while now, and this year they have taken extra care of technology and backstage equipment because there have been issues with microphones and lighting in previous years.

Starting late September, Mr. Pichardo and Ms. Shay initiated the preparation process. Hosts and acts were chosen, and the long frequent practices began soon after.

“We’ve practiced every Tuesday and Thursday until 7pm,” Variety Show singer Stefanie Sui said. “Everyone has really honed their performance, and all can recite their piece backward.”

The class officers have worked hard to ensure people attended rehearsal, which was vital to perfecting any bumps or hiccups in the show. They also coordinated with the many people involved to ensure everything was chugging along smoothly.

“People don’t know how much work it really takes to create a show like this. We do hope that every student who comes will enjoy the show, and I do think that all of our hard work will pay off,” Steinberg said.
