The Cowboys wrestling team entered the December 8th tournament eager to put up a strong performance against Piper, Hallandale, and McArthur at McArthur High School.

After the official weigh-ins, the wrestling matches began.  With strong performances from all of the CCHS varsity wrestlers, the Cowboys pushed to go the entire tournament without a loss, going a perfect 42-0.

“I had heard of perfect games in baseball, but I have never seen this happen before where one team goes perfect against three other schools.  Even though I expected the team to do well, I didn’t even realize they were so close to perfection until halfway through the last match,” CCHS Wrestling Coach Scott Sodergren said.

The team showed in this tournament that they truly are a strong force to be reckoned with.  The high level of training for the strength and technique necessary to succeed is amazing.

“The team has been training hard, like we have done all season long, but with the continuation of high intensity, we accomplished these victories.  At the beginning of the season I had high expectations for the team and this feat just confirmed these expectations,” Sodergren said.

At the conclusion of the competition, the Cowboys were victorious as they won every one of their matches.  The team’s next Varsity Wrestling tournament will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Western High School.
