The Cowboys were ready for their second week of games and to keep their winning streak going. They had won their first couple games and were hoping to keep the streak going and set the tone for their season. The Cowboys started off their warm ups, listening to music and getting mentally ready. As the timer counted down to end warm ups, the Cowboys gathered the balls and then circled around their coach to hear some final word before the game started.

On Tuesday March 6, the Cowboys took on Pines Charter High School at Cooper City High School. The Cowboys were able to dominate the entirety of the game and win the game 3-0.  The Cowboys kept up their winning streak, starting their season off with three wins.

Cowboys dominated the whole first set, scoring vital points and only giving up a total of 12 points in the first set. Dylan Zacca was able to get eight service points, giving the Cowboys eight points. Cooper City was able to keep up defense as well as offense, sending hits down the line and cross court out of the reach on Pines Charter. The Cowboys were able to take the first set with a score of 25-12.

Pines Charter didn’t let the loss of the first set get them down, they came out in the second set ready to fight. Both teams battled it out, scoring point after point, and taking the set well over the usual 25 points. Since you have to win by two points both teams battled it out, one scoring after the other until the Cowboys were finally able to put themselves ahead by two and win the set.  Zacca was able to get seven kills, while Ian Espinosa was able to get two kills. The Cowboys were able to take the win for the second set ending the set with a score of 31-29.

As the third set started the Cowboys were eager to win the set and take the win for the game. Pines Charter fought hard but not hard enough. Cooper City played a strong defense, keeping themselves from giving up more points than they did. Espinosa was able to get 26 digs throughout the game which is 26 points Pines Charter did not receive. The Cowboys were able to take the set 25-13 and win the game 3-0. Sophomore Ethan Frankel was able to have three kills along with three aces helping the Cowboys out on their win.

“We played really well,” freshman Adam Hartmann said. “We didn’t give up on the second set and fought hard all the way to the last point, which went all the way to 31 points.”
