On Tuesday, April 18th, the Cowboys hosted Flanagan at home in a non-district game. In the first set, the Cowboys came out strong with many blocks and kills giving them a solid lead. Towards the end, the Falcons began to come back, but good tips and kills from junior Sam West secured the win of the first set for the Cowboys. In the second set, the Cowboys were given a wake-up call as Flanagan went on a scoring run, and ended up winning the second set making it 1-1.

“I want to improve myself to the point that I can become as good as my teammate, Dylan Espinoza,” sophomore Tuan Van said. “I also want to learn to read hitters arms and predict the path of the ball. I want to work on my passing as well as setting to become the best player I can be for my team.”

Fueled by anger from the loss of the last set, the Cowboys bounced back and started off strong with blocks from senior Ed Sesodia and solid spikes leading to points from senior Dylan Zacca. The Cowboys had secured the lead early on and continued to dominate throughout the set, eventually winning it and making the series 2-1.

With only 1 set left to secure a victory, Zacca went on an ace run-scoring many points in the last set to put the Cowboys above. With the height of Sesodia, the Cowboys were able to get many blocks turned into points and win the last set of the series, winning the game 3-1. This was the last game for the Cowboys ending the season with an 8-8 record.

“The expectations for next year include having a winning season and going undefeated at home, getting better with communication and to build up players to fill the shoes of our departing seniors: Sesodia, Dylan Espinoza, and Nick Lozada,” junior Michael DiLiello said.

Final Score: Cooper City 3, Flanagan 1
