On Thursday, April 19, the Cowboys took on Coral Glades at Coral Glades High School. Both teams played until the last minute, but the Cowboys were able to dominate the entirety of the game. The Cowboys took advantage of the many mistakes made by Coral Glades and capitalized off of them, ending the games rather quickly.
As the game started out, both teams were testing out the other, seeing where potential weak or strong spots were. The Cowboys continued to play they’re usual game, sending hard shots down the line and through blocks. Coral Glades did not send or place shots as hard, giving the Cowboys time to set up and make plays. The first set came to an end rather quickly, ending with a score of 25-12.
Once the first set ended, each team gathered their waters and made their way over to the other bench, where they talked about things they could improve on or fix for the next set. The Cowboys finished their talk with the coach and said their usual cheer before heading back onto the court. Once on the court, the five players met in a circle to have one last pep talk before the set. The Cowboys continued to play the same as before. Sam West was able to get four kills, giving the Cowboys four points. Cooper City finished the set faster than the first, ending the set 25-7.
With the score being 2-0, Cooper City only had to win one more set to secure the win. Coral Glades stepped up in the third set, not going down without a fight. Each team were fighting for points but the Cowboys were eventually able to take the set with a score of 25-18.
“We played very well,” sophomore Ethan Silverman said. “We are all down about not making it to the district tournament but we had a great season and we finished 14-7 which isn’t bad.”
