The CCHS Varsity Boys Soccer team faced off against the Deerfield Bucks on Thursday, November 10th. The boys earned their first victory of the season, with a score of 3-0. With this win, the boys should now have an extra confidence boost for these next upcoming games.

“We are going to have to stay humble and worry about the games coming up, and creating better chemistry throughout the team.” said midfielder Mateo Upegui.

In the first half of the game, the Cowboys possessed the ball well, making it tough for Deerfield Beach to keep up. The Cowboys defense and mid-field stayed strong all half. The ball only crossed over into Cowboy territory about 5-7 times, throughout 40 minutes. The first goal was scored by Tomas Upegui, assisted by twin brother Mateo Upegui. The Bucks stayed strong, but the Cowboys managed to put another one in the back of the net.  Freshman Emre Taskin scored a beautiful  goal from about 25-30 yards out, lofting the ball right over the goalkeeper. This was assisted by senior captain Willy Upegui.

“Emre’s goal was the biggest influence of the game, hyping us all up even more.” said Mateo Upegui.

For the rest of the time remaining, Cooper played hard, giving the Bucks zero opportunities to make something happen. The Cowboys ended the first with half with a 2-0 lead.

For the start of the second half the Bucks came out strong, putting pressure on the Cowboy defense. However, they were not successful in putting the ball in the back of the net. Junior,  Andrew Hausdorff was able to put a halt to the Bucks momentum by bodying one of their players as they attempted to score. This made the fans go wild. This was easily the biggest play of the second half. Finally, late in the second half, senior Lucas Cusnir managed to score the final goal of the night. Ending the game with a 3-0 win for the Cowboys.
