The Cooper City High School Varsity  Football Team faced off against the South Broward Bulldogs in the opening pre-season game on Friday, August 22nd. The Cowboys fell short and the Bulldogs won the game 26-13.

The Cowboys had a rough start when the Bulldogs scored a touchdown in the first five minutes. Cooper City tried holding the opposing team off, but the Bulldogs ran in from the 40-yard line and scored another touchdown.

South Broward continued their streak in the second quarter by making two more touchdowns and picking up a fumble. The Cowboys had a slow comeback, but eventually, at the end of the 2nd quarter, CCHS football player Terry Whittington made a 10 yard catch, completing the Cowboys’ first pass of the night. Later in the second quarter, Whittington made a 55 yard return and then ran it in for a touchdown.

Into the third quarter, Cooper City High School Quarterback Tyler Sabine took control of the game when he ran in the ball and scored another touchdown. However, as the fourth quarter approached, chances of a comeback were very slim. High points included Cooper City’s Brandon Bordone making a full-body stretch for an interception. The Cowboys lost 26-13.

Join us Friday, August 29th, as the Cooper City Cowboys take on the Coral Spring Colts at Coral Springs High School.
