The Cooper City Cowboys faced off against Coral Springs in the first game of the season on Friday, August 29th. However, the Cowboys fell short losing to the Coral Springs Colts 14-34.

In the first quarter, the Colts started the game off with an 80 yard run to the end zone, but the Cowboys fought back and retrieved a fumble, and then ran it in for the first touchdown of the game. Soon after Coral Springs gained possession of the ball which ultimately ended with the Colts scoring their first touchdown of the game. The Cowboys continued on to score another touchdown and the Colts scored another two touchdowns. With just 1.9 seconds left on the clock, Quarterback Tyler Sabine’s pass was caught for an interception and the Cowboys were trailing behind by one touchdown.

Into the second quarter, Coral Springs immediately returned the Cowboys’ kick and rushed the field for 33 yards. Soon after Coral Springs ran the ball another 15 yards to score another touchdown. The Cowboys saw opportunity within every play to try to force another touchdown but weren’t able to. As the third quarter rolled in, there was little hope for the Cowboys. Especially when Quarterback Tyler Sabine threw incomplete passes and an interception that was followed by a sac. Sabine was then taken out and replaced with Jadelen Higgins. However, the Cowboys played strong defense and only let one touchdown by.
The fourth quarter saw little action since both teams played defense and refused to let either side score. The final score of the night was 14-34. Come out next Friday to watch the Cowboys face the Coral Reef Barracudas in their first home game.
